What is Cholecystitis?

 


Cholecystitis occurs when your gallbladder becomes inflamed. Gallbladder inflammation can be caused by Gallstones, Tumors, and Bile duct blockage. The following tests and techniques are used to identify cholecystitis: Blood tests, Imaging tests, and Hospitalization. Most cholecystitis patients eventually need surgery to remove the gallbladder because the ailment regularly recurs (cholecystectomy). The timing of the surgery will depend on how severe the symptoms are and how much of a danger you are for difficulties both before and after the procedure. If your surgical risk is modest, the patient can undergo the procedure within 48 hours or even while still in the hospital.

Signs and symptoms of cholecystitis: 
  • Severe abdominal discomfort in the upper right
  • The right shoulder or back hurts all throughout
  • When touched, the abdomen feels tender.
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting/Fever
Prevention: 

By adopting the following precautions to avoid gallstones, one can lower the risk of developing cholecystitis:
  • Slowly lose weight: Gallstone risk can rise with rapid weight loss. Aim to shed 1 to 2 pounds (0.5 to around 1 kilogram) per week if one needs to lose weight.
  • Keep a healthy weight: Overweight people are more likely to get gallstones. In order to get a healthy weight, one should eat fewer calories and move more. Continue to eat sensibly and exercise to keep the weight at a healthy level.
  • Pick a balanced diet: Gallstones may be more likely to develop on diets that are high in fat and poor in fiber. Choosing a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains will lower the risk of developing gallstones.
